The Fi2000R uses proven technology to give riders a simple, easy to install and adjust digital fuel-injection tuner. These units are preset by us for your bike. You do not need to download a fuel-map from the Internet and upload that into your bike's ecu. This unit also has three adjustment pods that allow you to make adjustments simply and quickly if you add and exhaust or air cleaner later.
The reason a product like this is necessary is simple: In order to pass increasingly stricter emissions standards, most modern motorcycles arrive from the factory in a borderline lean condition. This means that the air fuel mixture is set with less fuel and more air than the bike needs to perform at its full potential.
By adding a freer flowing exhaust, or air filter or both, the air fuel ratio becomes even leaner. The motorcycle will exhibit conditions such as backfiring on deceleration, an uneven idle or surging at constant throttle settings. This lean condition can also make your engine run noticeably hotter.
Don't let your resident neighborhood expert tell you that that's the nature of an aftermarket system or a certain manufacturer's pipes. Poor performance as we've discussed above is a result of an incorrect air-fuel mixture, not a pipe.
In most cases, re-jetting (for carburetors) or adding an Fi2000 for fuel injected models will correct these conditions by optimizing the air-fuel ratio and allow the motorcycle to reach its performance potential.
If you no longer have the instructions that came with your Fi2000, you can download a new set from our web site. Just go to your bike, and click the fuel management tab. Select the product and you will be able to access the instructions. Most of your questions can be answered there.
